“”””””2017 The Walls Cheys Syrah, Yakima Valley, French Creek Vineyard Cheys are walls in the North Rhone vineyards to retain soil on the granite slopes. This is an intense Syrah. It boasts an opaque purplish color and an intoxicating nose of blackberry, mountain blueberry, cherry, black currant, black roses, dark tobacco, lavender and oriental incense. The flavors mirror the aromatics with lavish yet firm dark fruits that are intermixed with black licorice, dark cacao, French roast and alluvial minerals. The concentration continues on the back with macerated berries, roasted nuts, mocha, crme de cassis, blueberry preserves and charcoal, followed by a lengthy, firm but ripe tannin finish. Shows varietal purity throughout.””” – 19+/20 points Rand Sealey, Review of Washington Wines “””Sourced from French Creek Vineyard in the Yakima Valley, like our Ros and Lip Stinger Rhone White blend, it shows incredible freshness and fruit character, while offering up secondary, savory aromatics. The additional year of in-house aging means this wine is ready to drink when you receive it. Knowing that we all need great wine to help get through this crazy time, we also thought wed offer it at an extremely attractive price so you dont feel guilty drinking it right away. People traditionally build walls to keep things out but cheys, the historic Cte-Rtie walls, were built to keep a very elusive something in: They trap goodness, says our winemaker. On steep mountainsides cheys, some dating back to the ancient Romans, help to secure the earth, prevent erosion, and contain all that is wonderful about slope-grown Syrah.””” – Winery”””
