Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc 2019
A fantastic expression of what our Greywacke river Stones are capable of, this Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh acid backbone and delicate salinity lead to a mouth-watering mineral finish. Serve with fresh oysters, pan-fried snapper and asparagus. This is so polished and concentrated. It has superbly fresh lime, passion fruit and guava, as well as some fresh herbs and wet stones. The palate has attractively detailed and focused flavors with a zesty, fresh line of acidity and plenty of intense, lively and refreshing lime and passion-fruit flavor. Sleek and polished. Drink over the next three years. COMMENTARY: The 2020 Clos Henri Sauvignon Blanc is focused and pure. TASTING NOTES: This wine shines with aromas and flavors of ripe fruit, mineral notes, and dried herbs. Try it with fresh salmon, tuna, and other sashimi delights. (Tasted: February 14, 2022, San Francisco, CA) This bottling of biodynamic producer Clos Henri’s Sauvignon is currently on the quiet side. There’s some oyster shell reduction at first but once it opens in the glass, characters of lime leaf, lemon zest and pineapple rind float to the fore, followed by green herbs, flint and white spice. The palate is medium in weight and has a lovely texture, thanks to time on lees and partial barrel aging. It’s elegant but a bit reticent. A classy, food-friendly bottling that should blossom in another few years.
